Help Local Florist Keep on Brightening Lives Daily

#SmallBusinessRelief #BrighteningLivesDaily:  If you've ever driven past the corner of Chorro and Pismo Street, you'll likely have noticed a quaint corner building with a sign swaying above the door that reads FLOWERS and a wrap around black and white striped awning. There's a black lacquered front door and the numbers 1349 in gold on either side shine in the bright San Luis Obispo sun.

And for a second, you can't help but have a fleeting curiosity about the story of this Corner Flower Shop that appears as if it's been plucked straight from Europe and dropped into the heart of Old Town San Luis Obispo.... Well, if walls could talk... it has quite the story to tell!

Inside, there's woman in a linen apron, who is feverishly arranging flowers at a work table behind the counter. Each day she arrives with a purpose... A MISSION TO BRIGHTEN LIVES DAILY.

(the video above is a true reminder of WHY I started Wilder to begin with)
I am doing whatever it takes the be here for you on the other side of this Covid-19 crisis.
I need the community's help to be able to re-open.
When all of this comes to pass, people will need flowers to uplift their soul.
I want to be there to continue BRIGHTENING LIVES DAILY.

Wilder's reputation for quality and service in the SLO area is incomparable. Specializing in LOCALLY grown flowers (always paying it forward to our amazing local farm economy) and specializing in designs with so much more personality and whimsy in them than standard wire-service flowers, Wilder is the people's choice for locals.  Each year our Valentine's and Mother's Day have continued to grow and be a continued success. But this year has been absolutely devastating due to the Covid-19 crisis.

As Covid-19 has severely limited our resources, our sales for this Mother's Day were down by 76%. On a typical year, the sales from this one holiday are carefully rationed to carry the retail space through the remainder of the year until the next big holiday, Valentine's Day.

I am fervently working on ways to adapt and pivot the business to be able to provide Covid-Safe offerings. I'm facing this challenge head-on with innovation to find ways to continue to deliver the same level of service and excellence to the community in a safe and enjoyable way.

In an effort to continue on Brightening Lives Daily using locally grown flowers (my two most important missions as your local florist), we are aiming to raise $30,000.

How we will be using the #SmallBusinessRelief funds raised:

- We need help covering our monthly rent, utilities and ongoing operational expenses through the end of the year (as our typical Mother's Day sales would have covered this). This will help us keep our lights, water, air conditioner and cooler running to maintain fresh flowers
- In order to re-open, we need to create a unique, safe and enjoyable "co-vid proof" customer experience. We have come up with the idea to install a flower pick-up window station -- this involves replacing our front window (we would hire all LOCAL help keeping this work within our community).
- As a former graphic designer, I will be working to give our online experience a boost for a safe, customer friendly and seamless ordering process
- And finally, we will plan a Grand Re-Opening for our community

These funds would give me the ability to keep 1349 Chorro operating through the year, no matter what may happen with the re-opening of the social-distancing guidelines....we will have other ways of brightening lives with curb-side pick-ups and contactless deliveries. But first we need to get back on our feet and make some changes in form, function and fundamentals.

I am very grateful for the role we play in your lives and work, and remain as committed as ever to ensuring your messages of love get delivered. With your help, it will mean that the 7+ year legacy of BRIGHTENING LIVES DAILY throughout our community can continue. And I couldn't think of a more important time than now for this.

Thank you for entrusting Wilder with the honor of brightening the lives of others during these challenging times. I wish you, your colleagues and families safety, wellness and positivity, and wholeheartedly appreciate any help you can afford to give!

Thank you for supporting your local Corner Flower Shop!
