A Landlocked Albertan Rowing Across the Atlantic Ocean for Charity.

The Event
We're rowing in The Atlantic Dash January of 2027. An ocean rowing regatta with a common goal: To successfully row across the Atlantic ocean. We'll row 2800 nautical miles (5000km) from Lanzarote to Antigua, spending 30 to 80 days at sea. The Atlantic Dash "isn't about being first - or fastest - It's about the spirit of adventure."

"Our lives are made of two dates and a dash – what will you do with your dash?"

The Wild Rows Why
In 2017 I experienced a clinical depression as a precursor to the onset of Rheumatoid Arthritis. The depression resolved (with the help of medications) within a couple of very hard years, but my body was left aching, and my hands were very weak. Often, I was unable to make a fist. I had pain simply trying to open my car door. Through Covid it was hard to get a diagnosis without in-person appointments. I really had to advocate for myself in the health care system to be taken seriously. Finally, with the help of a new family doctor and an amazing new rheumatologist, my diagnosis was confirmed, and I started treatment. Since being medicated I have been pain free for more than a year.

When you spend your 30s sad and sore it's pretty exciting to get your sense of adventure back. You start to dream of the possibilities in your life. When I heard about Atlantic crossings in 2022 I was awe struck. The sport gripped me. Seeing boats of brave, powerful women successfully rowing into the harbour in Antigua and celebrating, flares in the air, sparked something in me. I knew I could use this incredible feat to raise awareness about arthritis and raise money for charity.

A celebration of wellness and feminine power - come along with me. We're rowing across an ocean.

Our Charity of Choice
