Wild Atlantic Way, 2100km, 6.5 day ultra cycle
We are the ultra cyclists, a group of like minded adventure cyclists who take on a charity cycling challenge every year. Since 2016, we have completed 6,700 km over 5 different cycles, across 5 countries in just 18 days while raising an incredible €172,456 for various local and national charities. Last year, we had a very successful campaign raising €84,413 on our 32 county, round Ireland cycling challenge.
On Sun 18th July, 2021, we are embarking a huge challenge of cycling 2,100km along the iconic and scenic Wild Atlantic Way, starting in Kinsale, Co. Cork and finishing 6.5 days later in Derry city. That is a staggering 323km per day.
This event is self financed so 100% of all money raised will go directly to the chosen causes. Our theme this year is "self care, promoting physical fitness and mental wellbeing" and whilst doing so, we are using the opportunity to raise some funds for 3 worthy causes -
1. Mindspace Mayo (free & confidential support for young people going through a tough time),
2. Turn2me (online mental health support for people in need)
3. Make the Moove - rural mental health initiative by Macra na Feirme.
On Day 3, we will be joined by industry colleagues (farmers, vets, co-ops, animal health companies etc.) and Day 4, sports enthusiasts from Mayo/Galway (ex. GAA footballers, cyclists, tri athletes etc.) who will join in and cycle a 65km leg or two and maybe the whole 320km stage.
Please help us by sharing this page with your family, work colleagues and friends. The more people that know about this challenge, the more fundraising we can do. Thank you in advance for your kind generosity, it means a lot !!
