WIHI Collaborative Workspace Fund

Hello WIHI friends/fans,

As my tenure as a parent at WIHI approaches an end, I have been thinking of final opportunities for support before graduation. When I spoke to our principal, Nhu Do, and asked what is on her wish list she told me she has many things: a larger cafeteria, a performance space, a larger parking lot to name a few. While we hope those are definitely in the future for WIHI, right now we can have an impact on something that Nhu thinks is crucial for the progress of WIHI; creating collaborative learning spaces in the classrooms and commons to facilitate collaborative, inquiry-based, innovative student work. Our goal is to update WIHI collaborative areas with round or octagon white board tables with chairs. We will also purchase portable presentation whiteboards for students to document their thinking process and present their learning to peers and teachers.  The concept of promoting collaborative learning was validated on Nhu's research exchange trip to Finland and we can make it happen with your help! Currently there is not funding in the budget to make this a reality.  As I was thinking about this and the graduation event I had an idea......

The Senior All Night Party will include a mechanical bull this year. As entertainment for the seniors, the school, alumni, families and friends, I am starting a GoFundMe campaign to get staff to ride the bull and get a picture of them in the process. There are different goals with corresponding "rewards". Want to see Senior Class Dean Rachel Hervey be the cowgirl we know she is at heart? Help us get to a goal of $1000! Do you think IB Coordinator Dan Giddings can stay on for an entire ride? Let's find out by helping us get to the $2500 goal! And last, but certainly not least, if we reach a goal of at least $5000 our fearless leader Nhu Do has reluctantly agreed to ride the beast (in the name of student learning)!!! The WIHI Facebook page will feature pictures corresponding to the level of our success fundraising. Please help us earn pictures of all three demonstrating their "skills"!

Any size donation helps us reach our goals. I hope you can join us in this worthwhile effort to support the school. All funds raised will go toward the goal of furnishing the student centered collaborative work space.

Thanks!
