Meet Dani Pich, the driving force behind Yes We Sail.

This isn’t just a sailing project. It’s a story of resilience, passion, and the determination to keep going when life takes an unexpected turn.

After a life-changing accident, Dani lost his sight. But he didn’t lose his love for the sea — quite the opposite. The sea became his way forward, his source of strength and freedom.

With Yes We Sail, Dani proves that you don’t need sight to chase a horizon. You need courage, conviction, and a deep connection with your surroundings. Today, he continues to train, compete, and sail — showing the world what’s possible when you refuse to give up.

His mission is to break down barriers and make sailing accessible to everyone, regardless of physical or sensory ability.

This summer, with your support, Dani is taking on his most ambitious challenge yet: to sail solo around the Isle of Wight on his custom-adapted Catalan sailboat, “Lady”.

Dani has been working in adapting a typical boat from the coast of Barcelona, "el patí català" (a boat that is managed without rudder) to be completely independent to sail it alone, without external help.

He’s equipped it with groundbreaking navigation technology, developed specifically for his needs — and now, he’s ready to push the limits once again.

Dani has already received the support of the America's Cup Organization, different teams and CEO Grant Dalton, The Cowes Week one of the most iconic regattas in the world, and also of relevant people of the sailing sector as Sir Robin Knox-Jobston, UK sailor that in 1969 become the first man to sail solo and non-stop around the globe.

With your help we will cover the operational needs to run the challenge:

-Dani needs help of external support boats for security

-Dani has to travel the boat from Barcelona to Cowes

-Dani needs a special nutritional plan to be able to resit between 18-20h on the sea, sailing alone in a boat of less of 6m length.

-Dani needs equipment to support the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

-Help enhance the message of Yes We Sail, to empower other people with disabilities to be able to sail and follow their dreams.

-Keep pushing to return the sailing as sport of the program of the Paralympic Games in Brisbane 2032.

-Dani is working with his team in creating a documentary that explains all his story, how his life changed, how the sea has been his big driven to dream again and specially to show the rest of the world, that there are no disabilities, what we have are different capabilities.

VERSIÓN ESPAÑOLA DEL RETO DE DANI

Conoce a Dani Pich, el alma y motor de Yes We Sail. Esto no es solo un proyecto de navegación. Es una historia de resiliencia, pasión y determinación para seguir adelante cuando la vida da un giro inesperado.

Tras un accidente que cambió su vida, Dani perdió la vista. Pero no perdió su amor por el mar — todo lo contrario. El mar se convirtió en su camino, en su fuerza y en su libertad.

Con Yes We Sail, Dani demuestra que no hace falta ver para perseguir un horizonte. Hace falta coraje, convicción y una conexión profunda con el entorno. Hoy sigue entrenando, compitiendo y navegando — demostrando al mundo lo que es posible cuando te niegas a rendirte.

Su misión es clara: derribar barreras y hacer que la vela sea accesible para todas las personas, sin importar sus capacidades físicas o sensoriales.

Este verano, con tu apoyo, Dani se enfrenta a su mayor reto hasta la fecha: navegar en solitario alrededor de la Isla de Wight (70 millas naúticas) a bordo de su embarcación catalana adaptada (un "patí català), el “Lady”.

Dani lleva meses adaptando un barco típico del litoral de Barcelona, el patí català (una embarcación sin timón), para poder navegarlo totalmente en solitario y sin ayuda externa.

Lo ha equipado con tecnología de navegación pionera, diseñada específicamente para sus necesidades — y ahora está preparado para volver a superar los límites.

Ya cuenta con el respaldo de la organización de la Copa América, varios equipos y su CEO Grant Dalton, la Cowes Week, una de las regatas más icónicas del mundo naútico, así como del legendario navegante británico Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, el primer hombre en dar la vuelta al mundo en solitario y sin escalas en 1969.

Con tu ayuda, cubriremos las necesidades operativas del reto:

-Dani necesita barcos de apoyo externos para garantizar su seguridad y la del resto de navegantes.

-Hay que trasladar la embarcación desde Barcelona hasta Cowes (Isla de Wight)

-Dani requiere de un plan nutricional especial para resistir entre 18 y 20 horas en el mar, navegando en una embarcación de menos de 6 metros.

-Dani necesita equipamiento específico para hacer frente a las frías aguas del Atlántico

-Queremos amplificar el mensaje de Yes We Sail, para inspirar a otras personas con discapacidad a navegar y a perseguir sus sueños

-Seguiremos luchando para que la vela vuelva al programa de los Juegos Paralímpicos de Brisbane 2032.

-Y estamos trabajando en un documental que narra la historia de Dani: cómo cambió su vida, cómo el mar le devolvió las ganas de soñar y, sobre todo, cómo no existen discapacidades, sino capacidades distintas.
