Tresses for Tara - Give a Dollar - Give some Love

My name is Molly and I’ve started a campaign to help raise money for my sweet friend Tara Smith. I’ve known Tara for 18 years when we met my freshman year in college. We’ve grown together over the years and have become strong mamas who love and support each other. 

Tara was diagnosed at the age of 12 with alopecia areata but now has alopecia universalis. Her disease always showed itself differently during her life with minimal hair loss but in January 2017 Tara lost all of her hair - including her eyebrows and eyelashes. Tara has had a wig currently for about a year now but it’s time for a new one! A synthetic wig typically only lasts 6 months and is around $250.

I started this campaign to help raise money to support the costs of her wigs and ease the financial burden on her family. Tara doesn’t know if or when her hair will ever grow back so she could be buying wigs for many years to come. I’m hopeful to even open up the option to give her the opportunity to get a custom wig if she wants! There is a woman who is coming to Nashville to do a free consult with Tara for a human hair wig. These wigs are custom made based off scanning your head and last 5 years!!!! But just one wig costs so much! And the heart breaking thing is that insurance won’t cover a head prosthetic for alopecia.
