Help Aleesha raise funds for a custom wheelchair

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Kim Davis, I need to raise funds for my beautiful loving and kind-hearted wife Aleesha, who has lost complete use of her legs, due to chronic illnesses, a few being Endometriosis, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and an undiagnosed neurological problem which they are still investigating. These conditions have deteriorated her and her life continuously for the past 6 years and on-going.

Aleesha is the most kind, loving, funny, bright, outgoing and understanding person I have ever met, I am thankful every day to have such a bright and bubbly person in my life even though she has chronic pain and spends most days stuck in a bed watching the world pass by, constantly suffering she still manages to put a smile on my face every day; However if I were able to raise the funds for her to be able to get a customised wheelchair, this would significantly improve her quality of life and independence. A customised wheelchair would help Aleesha immensely with daily tasks most people take for granted, such as; being able to comfortably go to the toilet, access the fridge, kitchen, bathroom, loungeroom, being able to get out of the house in an emergency, being able to go out comfortably to appointments, to go out to enjoy the warmth of the sun, on dates with me, to experience life and be able to live as independently as possible.

Her current wheelchair is just a second-hand ex-hospital wheelchair, which is only made for moving people short distances, and as she is completely reliant on her wheelchair, the one she currently uses escalates her pain levels, is very uncomfortable to use and is not functional in our house which causes her to get her fingers and hands jammed a lot in door frames when just going to the toilet, or even getting stuck needing someone to provide assistance so she can get free. This is especially an issue when she is home alone and has to call someone for help, this is due to the wheelchair being used in a way it is not designed for.

We have tried to access government funding multiple times, but due to the unique nature of my wife's conditions and disability, she is not recognised as in need of help by any of the support schemes usually available to disabled people, even though she could clearly and greatly benefit from this support.

Being on my single income alone barely covers all of her medical expenses, let alone a customised wheelchair. We need help, so I am hoping this gofundme will assist in improving her quality of life and independence in a small but hugely beneficial way.

Your support in any way, whether it be sharing our story or helping financially, would be greatly appreciated and so helpful to make a massive difference in our lives, especially Aleesha’s.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read a small snippet of her/our story.
