I was very honoured to know Joanne during her courageous battle with cancer. She will be missed terribly and leaves behind 2 grieving little boys and her most caring and wonderful husband. The extended family has supported them tremendously throughout the 7 long years Joanne went for treatments or needed care - both in Saskatoon and to Germany as well.
Here is the message from Joanne's extended family:
“This fund has been set up to help Brad and his two boys Spencer (aged 9) and Preston (aged 7) during this very difficult time in their lives. Brad lost his wife Joanne to cancer on October 11th, 2016 after a long battle. Joanne was diagnosed with her first battle with cancer on her 27th birthday 7 years ago. She fought the cancer with a very brave face and kindred spirit, never losing that great smile of hers or her positivity. She always had a way to brighten other people’s day regardless of what she was going through. Although there were many ups and downs, she never gave up.
Unfortunately, since she received the news of cancer so early in life, she was unable to get any sort of insurance. Brad is self-employed and he needs time for himself to grieve, as well to be there for his boys - as this is what Joanne would have wanted. Rushing back to work is not something he is ready for.
A trust fund was set up for the boys to use in the future, however, as mentioned, helping the family right now is also important. Brad does not expect anything, but he realizes and appreciates that there are people out there asking, wanting, and hoping to help. Thank you in advance for your support.”
