Family and Friends of Jeff, Farrah, Liam, and Ava Wiberg are organizing to support them after a devastating loss in the midst of the holiday season.
During the early morning hours of December 1, 2023, The Wiberg Family woke up to a house fire. Their basement was ablaze and filling their multilevel home with toxic smoke. Thankfully, everyone was able to safely escape the house, along with their two dogs. Unfortunately, they had to leave most of their possessions behind until they could assess the safety of the situation and extent of the damage.
The extent of the damage to their home has proven to be magnitudes larger than initially anticipated. The fire burned the basement level, but smoke, toxic fumes, and particulate matter infiltrated every part of their home. All of their belongings, including school backpacks, furniture, clothing, bedding, food, and Christmas presents, have to be either thoroughly cleaned (if possible) or replaced entirely, and large portions of their home need to be torn down and rebuilt.
Family and friends have stepped up to help them in any way possible, and now we are reaching out to all of you to ask for your support. Insurance will eventually pay to replace items lost and help them find temporary housing, but that process is slow and complicated, and The Wibergs are assuming extensive out of pocket expenses in the interim. Moreover, the timing of the fire has placed an excessive burden on all of them. While it is absolutely not expected, every bit of assistance that we as a community can provide will lessen the burden felt by The Wiberg Family and allow them to find joy in this holiday season. A small part of the immediate needs that can be met with our donations include items such as snow pants, winter jackets, hats, mittens, snow boots, pillows and bedding, food (to replace everything they had to throw away!), school supplies, towels, socks, shoes, and pajamas.
The Wibergs have graciously emphasized that they will use any donated funds for necessities, and that they would like to donate any excess funds to The International Rescue Committee (IRC), which helps people affected by humanitarian crises to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Information on this organization can be found at rescue.org.
The members of The Wiberg Family are always the first ones to offer help to those around them, and in whatever way is needed. They care deeply about their community and give freely. It is our turn to show them that they are not alone in this time of need.
Thank you sincerely for your consideration.
