Hey, I’m Dan! I’m non-binary, trans masc. Since coming out in 2020 to close family and friends, and then work colleagues.. I've felt a freedom I've never felt. I'm so lucky to have the support I've had!

 

Despite the support and love I have recieved, life is still a struggle. I suffer with a lot of dysphoria in regards to my chest. It is a daily influence on my mental health. My partner sees this, how something simple like getting dressed can leave me in a panic attack. I also really struggling with dissociation and anxiety around my menstrual cycle with that being particularly dysphoria inducing for me.

 

Unfortunately there is a 5 year wait for even a referral and first appointment. So it's going to be years before I even get an appointment. The thought of waiting this long to even have a conversation about getting help with this just fills with me dread.

 

I've decided I want to raise the money myself. Between the actual top surgery, initial specialist appointments and psychiatric consultations, I'm having to set a target of 8.5k which I know is a big target, especially at a time where things are tighter than ever. I know this, and it has taken a lot of thinking and debating on whether I should do this right now.. but I am terrified of what will happen if I don't and I try to wait another 5 years. I'm going to be doing everything I can to raise as much of this as I can. Selling art that I make, bake sales, I'll climb a bloody mountain if that's what's needed.. basically anything I can do to raise as much myself!
