I’m running the Holkham Half Marathon on 19 April 2026 and I wanted to share why this matters to me.

Earlier this year I found myself dealing with something I genuinely never expected... a situation that escalated into stalking. What started as unwanted attention became persistent, intrusive contact that carried on long after I had been absolutely clear it needed to stop. It was frightening and exhausting in a way you can’t really understand until you go through it.

I was lucky. I had people around me who helped me through the police process, checked in on me and made sure I wasn’t left trying to manage everything on my own. That support made an enormous difference. But going through it also made something very obvious – a lot of people do not have that same safety net.

Many people facing stalking are trying to cope entirely on their own, often for months or even years before anything stops or is stopped. They’re left dealing with fear, uncertainty and the impact it has on their day-to-day lives without any clear guidance or reassurance.

That’s why I’m raising money for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust. They provide practical advice, specialist support and advocacy for people experiencing stalking or unwanted contact. They are there at the moments when people feel overwhelmed and unsure where to turn, and they rely heavily on donations to keep doing that work.

Training for this half marathon has become a way for me to rebuild some strength and focus, and it feels right to use it to support a charity whose work has become personally important to me.
