My name is Terry Holmes and I have known Chris for 32 years. He has always been one of the hardest-working guys I have ever known. He worked for me from the time he was fifteen until about three years ago, (about 32 years). Chris also spent a few years at South River Grill. He had worked hard to provide for his family, always willing to help others.
For the last seven years, Christopher G. Guffey has been in a losing battle with diabetes. I have seen it take his health away from him, and now the toes on his feet. He has struggled with Type One Diabetes, which is destroying his body. He has been in and out of Augusta Hospital numerous times because his sugar has gotten so high.
Chris lost his job at Mary Baldwin University, where he worked in the cafeteria. He has not been able to work for the last year because of his disability. He has lost all the toes on one foot and his foot is in a cast and now cannot work. He is about to lose the big toe on his left foot. Standing for any length of time is impossible, taking away his ability to support himself and his son.
Chris cannot get unemployment and has been trying to get disability for over a year. He hasn’t qualified yet. It is hard to believe he has not gotten it. He needs help now. His bills are due, and he is fast running out of options with no money. Your help would be most appreciated, especially in these times. If you can’t donate, please share this post, every little bit helps.
Thank you,
