Hello All,
We are the daughters of the wonderful, Deborah Dawkins. We are raising money to help our mom pay for her medical bills. She is going through breast cancer treatment and has hit some unexpected bumps along the way. About a week ago, she fell and broke both bones in her ankle. She had surgery to have plates and screws put in. Since then, she has been in a rehab facility full time to help her ankle heal.
At the time of her ankle break, she had been through two chemotherapy treatments and was sick and weak as a result. Since being in rehab, her health has been improving as she's been eating and resting. However, it is not cheap to stay in a facility like this 24 hours a day and this is a big expense we would like to raise money for as well as her hospital bills for her ankle break and cancer related appointments and procedures. Along with her recent ankle surgery and two biopsies, she is undergoing a mastectomy today (June 8, 2015). After her mastectomy area and ankle is healed, she will continue with her chemo treatments and then she will have a breast reconstruction. With all of this going on, we would like to surprise her with news that some of her medical expenses could be paid for through generous and large-hearted friends and family via Go Fund Me.
Here is little about Deborah if you don't already know. She has a HUGE heart and has always put others' needs above hers. My sister and I have always been her first priority and we have felt her love and warmth all our lives. My mom went to undergraduate and graduate school in succession when my sister and I were children. She sacrificed a lot to make sure she educated herself and was able to make money to support my sister and I. She knew how important it was to be self-sufficient and able to support herself and her children. She became a special education teacher and opened her heart to her students and their families.
She has made a conscious effort to be involved in each of her four siblings' lives and all 16 of her niece and nephew's lives. She doesn't miss a birthday, a graduation, a BBQ, or any type of family gathering as she values all time spent with her family. She also has many friends that she makes an effort to stay close with which she has, in some cases, for decades. Our point is, she is selfless, caring, generous, helpful, reliable, big hearted, funny, adorable, determined, intelligent, maternal, loving, and cancer kicking! I could go on and on!
We would like to help her have one less worry on her mind during her cancer treatment. Our goal is to raise money to put towards the rehab facility and all medical expenses from hospital bills to prescriptions to her ambulance rides. We appreciate ANY and EVERY contribution you make and we thank you with love and gratitude.
Sincerely,
Rachael and Sarah
