Whose Streets?! Abolition in Action Resource Fair
Support Mutual Aid FOR Abolition! Care not Cages!
For this month’s Abolition in Action event, No New SF Jail Coalition is organizing an in-person event to engage with our unhoused and street-based community. We are fundraising to provide gift cards directly to our unhoused neighbors at this event.
In October, we’ll be hosting a resource fair for street-based folks in the Tenderloin. We’ll have tables with different resource information folks can access, along with resource specialists and organizations folks can speak directly with. We’ll also be distributing food, screen-printing free shirts with our “Care Not Cages” and “Libertad” stencils, sharing health and harm reduction supplies, talking about abolition, and listening to people’s stories and visions for a jail-free city.
If you would like to give gift cards directly to our unhoused neighbors, please donate! The gift cards will be as generalized as possible to allow for people to self-direct their own resources. 100% of funds will go directly to people who are unhoused or street-based in SF, most of whom are people of color and experience criminalization at the hands of SFPD. This continuous criminalization results in a jail population that is over 40% houseless. Care not cages!
After hosting four successful online political education sessions since May (see more here), No New SF Jail Coalition is prioritizing off-line connections this month with folks who don’t have access to the technology or private space to participate in our online events.
Thank you for your support! If you prefer, you can also venmo (NoNewSFJail-Coalition).
No New SF Jail Coalition is a coalition of local organizations, residents and community members joining together to fight the expansion of imprisonment and criminalization in San Francisco. See more information at nonewsfjail.org.
