Hello, my name Christine I am doing this go fund me for my Grandaughter Harper Carpenter! Harper was born very premature weighing under 2lbs spending a number of weeks in the NICU. Harper during her birth Doctors said it was a trauma causing Harper to suffer two brain bleeds one on each side. Harper came home with her Dad to stay at my house. Harper stuffed great pain from gastrointestinal issues. Poor little one was not gaining weight that she needed, was on meds and special formula to help but wasn’t doing much for the pain. As Harper began to grow, she was born right arm first which left her very black, but eventually turned to normal color. When I asked if her arm word be alright that, the doctor said the nerves and muscles seem to be alright. When Harper was about 8 months old I spoke to her Pediatrician about the arm how she was not using kept her fist clinched, her Doctor agreed that she had observed the same thing and Harper wasn’t hit mile stones rolling over, sitting, crawling all motor skills. She set us with an appointment to see a Neurologist at Boston Children’s Hospital. The day came and Harpers ,Dad and I were extremely shocked to get the News this beautiful baby girl was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy And would have go back in a few weeks to confirm with a brain scan. The Doctor gave us some good news that it was Harper was very bright as she has a vocabulary of a18-24month old child and she had just 1 year a week before our Appointment. We c went back to Boston a few weeks later and Harper had her Bain scan. We then met with doctor and he confirmed the diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy . This gave Harper extreme tone in her body which makes her very stiff and tight, her right arm remained very week.
As the summer progressed Harper began laying on her tummy army crawling with her left arm and was very happy. Got her into Shriners for therapy . Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy . Harper got her first wheel chair two years ago in hopes that she would use her right arm more. But it tiers very quickly which dose not get her where she want to be easily. Therefore Harper has been fitted for motorized wheel chair hopefully soon so she keep up with her piers at school. She is very energetic 4 year old, who loves to try to move to the music, she crawls on the floor at home to play with toys. Loves to be outside and go for walks but we are pushing her as she can’t go far so I push her and she wants go by herself. Harpers is always singing and smiling. Harper loves going to school, is very smart she taught herself to read . With all being said with Harper going into a motorized wheelchair it will be impossible to get her to the many appointments she has, or shopping or getting anywhere she would like to go. This why I am asking for help as I cannot afford to go out and get a wheelchair assessable van to transport where she needs or wants to go.
