HI All,
In the Spirit of the holidays I hope you will shower this family with love and donations. These kids need Santa!
Here's the story:
Summer of 2018 I hopped in an Uber in Chicago with friends. I was on my way to Indianapolis via a quick trip for some amazing food in Chicago. As we headed to our next dining destination we struck up a conversation with our driver. Turns out he was living in Indianapolis but driving on the weekends in Chicago. Perfect! I now, had a connection in Indianapolis. I am Event Producer and planner that was headed to Indy for an event that I was planning and had no idea of the city. Over the next year I did many rides with this same driver. He also became the on site transportation coordinator for my event. He was AMAZING in everything that he did. He was an intricate part of the vendor team. Additionally, he held up well under pressure and he was kind. Kind to everyone he met. On top of it all and most importantly he became a friend.

Over that year I learned of his story. He was widowed, with four kids. He had lost his wife (the love of his life) to complications from Lupus three years before. He had moved his kids to Indianapolis to get them out of the troubles of Chicago and his older daughter could help watch the kids while he drove an Uber and Lyft. He had a younger son that had medical issues. Two older boys that were doing track and field and one that played the Saxaphone.
THIS IS KELLY SIMMS. He is a father, son, good citizen, hard worker, uber and Lyft driver, smart, funny and in need of a break.
His youngest who I met one day as he was headed to a doctors appointment, has cleft lip and pallet.
I just found out in the last week that he had surgery and was hospitalized for a month. No uber driving happened during that time. So no money was earned during that time. I know Kelly was right by his side letting him know that it all was going to be alright. Meanwhile worrying about how he was going to make it.

The reason I am telling you all of this is because well it's Christmas. I learned that Kelly had to go to the Salvation Army to collect up a few things for his kids. Honestly, my heart broke wide open. I have been BLESSED, BLESSED, BLESSED in my life and I know that Kelly has too in many ways. I just wish for him not to have to worry in the New Year. To be able to give his kids everything that they want and need. If you can give do because it will mean more then you can ever know.
I know that any chance meeting is never coincidence. Lets change lives together. Lets go viral with this and really make a difference.
Thank you!
Jenn
