It’s official…our FASNY FTC Robotics team, 14903 SharkBots, advance to the 2025 FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas…for the third year in a row!

We aim to raise $10,000 to get our team to Houston! Can you help us reach our goal?

Who are the SharkBots?

• 3 passionate students from two local high schools: Harrison & FASNY high schools:
  • Justin: Design, CAD, programming, Driver
  • Denis: Design, CAD, programming, Driver
  • Maia: outreach Lead, Documentation, Human Player
• Hosted by the French American School of NY (FASNY)
• Over 370 hours invested in designing, building, wiring, and programming our custom CNC-machined robot

An amazing season!

Our team is ranked #5 in the world FTC rankings! We were the Winning Alliance Captain and the Inspire Award winner in the NY Excelsior regional championship!

Since September 2024, we have been working to create a reliable and competitive robot. For the first time, we engineered a completely custom robot and taught ourselves how to use a CNC machine to bring our design to life. We spent 250 hours to design our robot, 24 hours to build and wire it together, and another 100 hours to program it. Our hard work paid off because our team’s robot has consistently been in the top 10 robots around the world and won the NY Excelsior Championship (Winning Alliance - Captain with our alliance team 5485-GorillaBots).

Meet our robot, Nano!

The FASNY SharkBots were featured several times in the FUN Robotics Network FTC YouTube series “FTC Top 25” in January (#23), February, and March (#6 for both).

We are now going to the FIRST World Championship in Houston, April 16-19, 2025, where we will proudly represent FASNY and the New York State Excelsior region while competing with over 250 FTC teams qualifying from around the world.

More than a robot! Among other things, we….

• Since May 2024, we invested over 500 hours to bring STEM and robotics to others

• Started and mentored a rookie FTC team of 13 members, created a guide to help others join a FIRST team, advocated and brought the entire FIRST curriculum to our school from Pre-K to high, assisted many FTC teams and spent over 180 hours mentoring teams globally with design and coding classes! Last year we were mentoring in North Africa, this year we were in Texas and Croatia!

• Promoted FIRST Lego league as youth FLL board members in our Hudson Valley region, advised FLL coaches and promoted the enrollment of new FLL members

• Hosted robotics qualifier tournament while engaging 60 volunteers from our community including our teachers and schoolmates and ran 9 robotics workshops reaching 1,400+ people in person

• Created and organized a successful robotics summer camp for 119 children from Kindergarten to 6th grade at the Carver Center, Port Chester, NY

• Engaged and worked with 15 professionals exposing them to the FIRST community and getting guidance as needed

Here are a few pictures from the summer camp we organized at the Carver Center in Port Chester, NY.
Thank You to Our Community!

We are thankful to all individuals who helped us throughout this journey: the amazing teams and robotics friends who are part of our Excelsior region, Tina Betz, Lisa and Tyler Russell and all the FIRST volunteers who make this program possible, The French American School of NY for providing space and funding, and a big thanks to Graham Simons (Tardis Alumnus) for sharing his amazing photos!

Also, a big shout-out to thank our Coaches and Mentors!

Last season your generosity helped us raise nearly $10,000 and that covered most of our expenses for team lodging, food, robot transport, and registration. This year we hope we can raise a similar amount.

Your donations will help cover:
● FIRST World Championship Registration fee: $2,500
● Robot, Equipment & Booth Transportation: $1,000
● Travel, Accommodation & Meals (3 students + coaches/mentors, 5 days): $6,500
Any contribution, big or small, will be helpful!

Thanks to everyone!
