Hello, I'm Heather. Last week, my brother's family was blindsided by an unexpected illness. My sister-in-law, who dedicated the past decade to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, now finds herself in the midst of a challenging battle. What began as a seemingly innocent "cold" quickly escalated into pneumonia, accompanied by strange symptoms and tingling sensations in her legs. A diagnosis was reached: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS).

This debilitating condition has robbed her of her ability to walk, and she faces a grueling journey towards recovery, working diligently to regain her mobility. At this time its unclear when she can be released home. Amidst this ordeal, there are two young kids at home who look up to her, relying on her strength and presence. Her husband is doing his best to maintain a sense of normalcy for them, even in her absence.

As the holidays approach, the weight of unexpected medical expenses and the challenges they're enduring are placing an additional burden on their family. I am initiating a fundraising effort to support them during this trying time, so they can focus on her recovery and their children's well-being.
