I never imagined that I would be writing something like this for a dear friend. If you know Whitney, her asking for any kind of help isn't easy. For the last year, she has quietly managed nightly peritoneal dialysis treatments while continuing to live fully, love deeply, write faithfully and encourage everyone around her. Most people wouldn't know the discipline and strength it takes for her to hook up to a machine every night, so it can do what her kidneys can't.
Recently things have accelerated. Whitney met with her transplant team and is now moving forward with approval for a kidney and pancreas transplant. A heart catheterization is scheduled as a part of this process, and if all goes well, surgery could be scheduled as early as June 2026.
This transplant represents hope. It is a life without dialysis, renewed health, and the opportunity to move forward without being tethered to a machine every night.
As many of you know, transplant doesn't end with surgery. It begins a new chapter of lifelong immunosuppressant medications, frequent monitoring, recovery time, and significant medical expenses even with insurance. During recovery, Whitney will also be temporarily off work, while everyday responsibilities like rent, utilities, insurance and basic living expenses continue.
Choosing life shouldn't mean choosing between choosing medication and keeping the lights on. This support will help bridge the gap, so she can focus on healing instead of financial survival.
Whitney is choosing life. She is choosing to walk this road with courage and faith, but she shouldn't have to walk it alone. If you feel led to give, pray, or share this page, you are directly helping relieve the financial burden of medications, recovery, and ongoing transplant care.
Thank you for loving my friend well and standing with her in this season.
