Whitney's story in her own words -
"In February of this year, I was diagnosed with a rare type of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. My medical team was confident that six rounds of dose increased inpatient chemotherapy would have a high chance of putting me into remission. My first PET scan after starting treatment showed a great response, which put our minds at ease. After four rounds of treatment totaling four weeks in the hospital, I had another scan which unfortunately showed that my cancer had stopped responding to the chemo. Onto plan B - two rounds of a new chemo and all of the preparations and procedures for a stem cell transplant. After another scan, we were again given the bad news that my cancer had not responded to this chemo either and had grown again. Onto plan C - Immunotherapy, hopefully followed by a modern new treatment called Car-T.
We are grateful for the village that has surrounded and supported our family during this difficult time. Every positive vibe sent our way has been felt. While my journey has been much longer and had more bumps than we anticipated, I am confident that I will reach the finish line. In the words of our four year old son: 'Mama, you gotta do what you gotta do.' "
Whitney put this together months ago, as her colleagues so generously wanted a way to help. After a much longer fight than anticipated, Whitney was open to sharing her story with friends & family. Her hope was to update her story for all of you in own words, but she is focusing on winning this battle with cancer.
Whitney is currently on plan C, Car-T. As this has been a difficult eight months, this past month Whit has put up the biggest fight yet, battling a lung infection and allowing Car-T to work though her body.
She is not alone in this fight, and that is the goal of this page. She is doin' what she's gotta do, and would appreciate all of the love, prayers, positive thoughts/vibes sent her way.
