Hello y'all, my name is Jocelyn. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Whitleigh's wife and partner. Whitleigh was diagnosed with stage 2a invasive breast cancer on May 25th. Since the tumor was bigger than originally thought - the current treatment plan includes 6 rounds of chemo, surgery and then an additional 6 rounds of targeted chemo to prevent recurrance. Due to the crushing side effects of chemotherapy - Whit is unable to continue working through this and must pivot his focus fully onto his health - but I'm going to let him take it from here. <3 J
My entire life I really pride myself on being a hard worker. When I found my passion for pizza, the hard work finally felt like it had found its purpose. From slinging slices, to wood fired pies, to making my own dough and carving out a little name for myself even when things were low in the world. Even now, I’m lucky enough to work with some of the best people in the game, who truly feel like family. Community is what it creates, pizza. It’s an endless process of learning, teaching, eating, and sharing. Behind closed doors it creates safe places, family, and love. It’s very emotional for me to talk about, because I will not be able to wake up and do what I love every day to the extent I feel in my heart. The volume is too high and my body simply can’t keep up during this process of chemotherapy and surgery. So, I’m turning to the community this time, my friends and family, to ask for any donations that can help me and my wife stay afloat during these next 6-8 months. It’s going to be mentally and physically very challenging, so any help financially we would greatly appreciate.
I know I’ll be back to it, because it simply can’t keep me away. all the love, and fuck cancer.
