For those who don’t know me, I am Josh White, 24 years old from Mount Martha. Over the past 10 years, I have been faced with a roller coaster ride of mental health challenges. This personal experience has motivated me to raise money to help other people suffering from mental health issues.
Many people are affected by mental health challenges at some point in their life. Unfortunately, sometimes we will be unaware of the struggles of people close to us. Those who know what being stuck in a rut feels like will know that it helps to support others. I hope in doing this I can spread awareness on how to look out for your mates and that it’s also ok to seek help. Please check in with everyone around you, anyone can be struggling, even the smiling ones.
I have had my dreads for the past 10 years, and during that time, they have become a part of me and my identity. So to raise awareness, I will be shaving my head and hope to raise some funds to donate to “It's Okay Not To Be Okay” and “Speak & Share”. Both charities are doing some awesome work in the battle against mental health. Shaving my dreads off is symbolic for me as I am saying goodbye to many challenges I've faced over the past few years.
Below I have included a link on how to support someone going through mental illness and signs of what to look out for.
Any donation is greatly appreciated, the more we raise, the more awareness there will be. Please feel free to message me if you are struggling.
No one needs to struggle in silence.
