I am Sis. Genevieve Richards from Jamaica, the Pastor’s wife at the Whitesand Church of God in Jamaica. Nestled in the quiet rural community near the Trelawny–St. Ann border, the Whitesand Church of God has long been a place of worship, warmth, and service. I have developed a passion for serving the community and building a relationship with everyone through the church.
During the passage of Hurricane Melissa, our small church was hit hard, losing its kitchen which was primarily made of zinc. It had no sink, working refrigerator, or proper counter space even before the storm, but it faithfully served our members and visitors for years.
Our kitchen has always been more than just a room — it’s where we prepare meals for children during Vacation Bible School and cook for visiting mission teams and members. It has been the heart of our outreach and fellowship in a quiet community that needed hope.
This unfortunate loss has given us the chance to rebuild stronger and safer, but sadly, it comes at a time when our members — most of whom are farmers — are still recovering from the hurricane’s impact on their crops and livelihoods.
We are asking for your kind support to help us rebuild our church kitchen. Your contribution, no matter the size, will help us restore a space that feeds both the body and soul of our community.
Together, we can turn this setback into a testimony of faith, hope, and unity.
Thank you for your generosity and prayers.
