White Lights of Old Bellevue

Donation protected
Join us in spreading holiday cheer this season and help us light up Old Bellevue! With all of the new buildings, new restaurants, new shops, and 1,800+ new residence moving into the immediate area, it is our goal to light up Main Street and the adjoining streets with white holiday lights likes never before.

Known by many as the heart and soul of Bellevue, “Old Bellevue” has become a vibrant place to live, work and play for both the neighborhood locals and destination tourist - young and old alike!

About 10 years ago, the businesses of Old Bellevue came together and formed “Old Bellevue Merchants Association” (OBMA), a nonprofit, volunteer association comprised of the merchants residing on Main Street, 102nd, and 103rd Ave NE. As an association, we come together to raise funds,  plan events and most importantly discuss ways we can continue to make Old Bellevue a thriving place for our community and customers just like you!

Year after year we do our best to raise all of our funds among the merchants alone but this year we are reaching out for community support, involvement and help with raising additional funds. We are reaching out to you -  the people who make our independently owned shops successful, the people who drive their kids up and down Main Street to school each day, the people who keep Old Bellevue the true hidden gem on the Eastside.

With stricter regulation and permit processes from the city, the costs to light up the streets of Old Bellevue are getting increasingly larger and larger each year while the funds we are able to bring together as an association remain the same. While the lights are one of the largest and most noticeable contributions we make for our community, we also take pride in doing some of the little, not so noticeable things like cleaning up the streets, planting fresh flowers in the flower pots throughout the year and purchasing smoker corrals to keep cigarettes off the street. While we have done a great job raising funds over the years to get us where we are at now, the new proposed budget for installing holiday lights this year will take a big toll, depleting a large portion of the budget we have to use next year to continue our efforts to do these little things.

This year we are reaching out in hopes the community can come together to help us raise an additional $5,000 to help contribute to the total cost it takes merchants to light up Old Bellevue from the middle of November to the middle of February. A lofty goal - yes, but an unachievable goal - no! When we band together as a community we can achieve any goal by breaking it down into manageable pieces. If every resident, customer, neighbor, or friendly face that enjoys the shops, restaurants and neighborhood of Old Bellevue this holiday season donated $100, $20, $10 or even just $5 each, we have the power to tackle this goal together and continue one of our favorite holiday traditions!

We as Old Bellevue have become what we are because of you- we are a thriving community with a small hometown neighborhood feel! We hope you continue to support the shops and restaurants of Old Bellevue and together we can light up each other’s holiday season!

We appreciate you helping us spread the word!
