Hi, we’re the White Day team: Jake Miller, Aranxa Campos, and Will Karim.
We’re raising funds for a short film called White Day, a sharp, funny satire about what happens when good intentions, cultural obsession, and loneliness collide.
The film follows Jeremy, a socially awkward office worker who mistakes a friendly Valentine’s card from a coworker as a sign of romantic interest. Wanting to be “respectful,” he dives headfirst into what he thinks Japanese culture is, convincing himself that the holiday White Day gives him permission to confess his feelings in an over the top, totally misguided way.
At its core, White Day is about how people sometimes use culture as a costume instead of actually trying to understand other people. It’s a comedy, but it’s also a reflection on how fetishization, entitlement, and performative “respect” can do real harm even when they come from the best possible intentions.
All of the money we raise will go directly toward paying our actors, feeding our crew, and securing locations so we can make this film the right way. This is a not for profit project. No one involved is making money off of it. We are all doing this because we believe in the story and want to make something honest and funny.
If you’re able to support us, even a small amount helps make this film possible. We truly appreciate anything you can give and can’t wait to share White Day with you.
