White City Community Massage-let's keep it going!

Parkview Community and Maternity Champions provide monthly community massage sessions where local residents can enjoy both massage and reflexology treatments for a super affordable fee. Originally held at Parkview Health and Wellbeing Centre, the White City Community Centre, has hosted these sessions for the past two years.

This incredible initiative was set up by Community Champions working with Teresa Meekings, a therapist and founder of Community Massage London CIC. The massages are so appreciated by the local community, many of whom are regulars at these sessions.

Both the treatments and the contact with others, for so many of our clients, form a fundamental part of their health and wellbeing routine.

In Teresa's words:

"We work with local communities and community organisations to ensure that this service is made available to all. We are all qualified therapists who are committed to working in a different way to ensure that therapies are affordable to the community.

We encourage a mutually supportive ethos in which people take care of themselves and where they can give other members of their community the same opportunity."

The project will, from November 2022, be subject to funding cuts which mean these valuable sessions will not be able to take place in the new year. This is disheartening news for both therapists and residents, who all enjoy them immensely as a way of sharing time together, and of providing access to complementary therapies that are so effective for both physical and mental health.

If we can raise £10,000, this will allow us to keep the service going and, hopefully, to expand access to more members of the community across West London!
