On 11/3/2026, I took Whisper to the ER vet because I was afraid she had an intestinal blockage. What I learned instead was absolutely heart shattering: my 4-year-old dog has cancer and needs immediate treatment. Since then, I have been doing everything I can to keep up with the care she needs. She has already had a 24-hour stay in the emergency vet ICU for IV fluids, medications, imaging, fluid aspiration for testing, an official diagnosis and staging, and her first chemotherapy treatment. I have already paid $7,000 just to get her through that first critical stage of care.
Her treatment is ongoing and extensive. Right now, she needs weekly bloodwork, weekly oncology appointments that are billed separately from chemotherapy, weekly echocardiograms with a cardiologist to monitor her heart at $1,000 each, routine imaging estimated at $600 per appointment, take-home prescriptions, prescribed food, and a 25-week chemotherapy plan estimated at around $25,000. Altogether, her care is expected to cost more than $50,000, and even after treatment, she will still need routine checkups and medication while in remission.
Whisper is so much more than a dog to me. She has been my best friend, and she is my heart. Some of you know I found Whisper at one of my local rescues three weeks after law enforcement shut down a major dog fighting ring. Whisper was one of many dogs born into that fighting ring. When I first saw her, she was hiding under a bench in the back of her kennel. I sat on the floor and called to her, and she army crawled over to the door. Later, during our introduction in the yard, she army crawled all the way out again until I got down on the ground and called her to me. Then she ran over, jumped on me, and covered me in kisses. I knew right then that I was adopting her. I was told Whisper had never responded to anyone the way she did with me.
She was not given a fair chance at life in the beginning, and I have done everything I could to give her the best life possible. She is happy, sweet, and loving. All she wants is to love and be loved. Now she has to fight to survive again, and it is breaking my heart.
This is not a one-time expense. The bills continue week after week, and predictable support would help me keep up with her ongoing appointments, testing, medication, and food throughout her treatment plan and beyond. If you are able to give on a recurring basis, that steady help would make a real difference as these costs continue over time. One-time donations are also deeply appreciated and would go directly toward the next round of care she needs.
I am asking for help because I cannot afford everything Whisper needs on my own, and I want to give her every chance to go into remission. I am also asking for prayers from everyone for Whisper to make a full recovery. No matter what, any donation, recurring support, or share of this fundraiser would mean so much to us and would help me continue the treatment she needs.
