My dear friend Tamara has been through a LOT in the last few years, and always by her side is her giant ginger boy Whiskee.
Whiskee was rushed to the Emergency Vet early on Wednesday morning (July 8th) with labored breathing. He was very dehydrated and his glucose levels were high, so he stayed overnight. Thursday (July 9th) after his release he was taken to be assessed by a professional that will become his primary veterinarian who decided more tests needed to be done, as the emergency techs were not as thorough as they should have been in this situation.
Whiskee stayed another night at the vet while they monitor his progress and await test results. He is still being monitored, and they are watching closely to (hopefully) rule out kidney issues.
Tamara relocated back to the west coast from Virginia in March, after almost 3 years, where she provided care for her ailing father. Unfortunately, almost as soon as she arrived back in California, the mandatory shelter-in-place order was issued and all the job prospects that were lined up disappeared. Like many others during the last few months, savings have been drained, credit cards are reaching their limits, and employers are still navigating the hiring process during a pandemic.
Anyone with a pet knows how much emotional support they can provide us during difficult times, and how important it is to take care of the ones we love. Tamara and Whiskee have been side by side for 16 years and have experienced every type of joy and pain one could think of.
As of July 9th, vet bills have reached almost $3000 and he still awaits a diagnosis. Anything helps.
