If you've found yourself on this page I'm guessing it's because you know Dann personally, or maybe even word has reached you and you're interested about his story.
Dann was born with Marfan’s Syndrome. This is a disorder of the connective tissue and can affect any organ in the body. Unfortunately for Dann, many of his organs have been affected. He has had a number of surgeries in the past but had been doing very well until a few weeks before Christmas when he was hospitalized for a complication of the disease. He was sent home after a few days but was readmitted to the ICU when he again became ill. He is currently struggling to recover from a series of serious and life –threatening complications related to Marfan’s.

Anyone who knows Dann can vouch for the fact that he is one of the most genuine people on this planet. He is honest, loyal, charming, hilarious, and stubborn as can be.
Dann is the kind of guy who will stand up for you, support you, and be a shoulder to cry on. When he's around I know I will be smiling and laughing even when he makes fun of me for being a fool. Dann  is like this with all of his friends. He never complains, ever.

He has not let Marfan’s define him. He is a college graduate, an artist who has participated in Artprize multiple times,  photographer (Dann Mansel Photography), and a movie critic (100 Words or Less).
My name is Stacy Smith. Dann has been my best friend since ninth grade. He even took me to prom! On New Year’s Eve I got a call to go to the hospital because Dann wasn’t doing well. Dann’s best friend since third grade, Nick Ronda was there as well. We were allowed to visit Dann, however he was sedated and on a ventilator, so he was unable to speak to us. Dann’s mom told us to feel free to talk to him so he’d know we were there. We told him our favorite memories from the past, hoping that it would give him the strength to keep fighting. We are still waiting for Dann to turn the corner and get better.
Dann's family has not asked for a thing other than our prayers, but we know that Dann could use some financial assistance. This is something Nick and I wanted to do because for him because we love Dann and his family, and we want to do everything we can to help support them in such a stressful time.

I know when he wakes up and finds out we did this he will be so mad at me, but I think the outcome will hopefully soften the blow (sorry, Dann! Don't hate us!). Anyone who knows Dann knows that he would never ask for help, but in this case, he needs it. PLEASE, donate anything you can. Every penny helps.

STAY TUNED and keep checking the site for additional information about other fundraisers we might put together for Dann.
