Calling our WHET Foundation & WHET Travel Family for support!
Peru is facing one of the biggest natural disasters in their history. Intense rain have caused severe flooding and landslides also known as huaicos in 24 of their 25 regions. Peru has been declared in a state of emergency and more storm and mudslides are expected in the month of April.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center, nearly 100,000 Peruvians have lost everything since the beginning of the year, while over 600,000 have suffered serious damage to their homes. Many cities, houses and hospitals are completely destroyed and covered in mud. In some areas, there is no drinking water, food or medicine to survive.
From Careli Beukema (WHET Family member and wife of WHET Travel, Groove Cruise & WHET Foundation founder Jason Beukema):
“As a Peruvian and living so far away, it breaks my heart to see how many people in my country are suffering and not getting enough help. All donations through this campaign will be personally taken to Peru to make sure it is well spent in the most needed areas. With the help of the Vastion Group and Bash Network, we will be providing needs including but not limited to, water, food, medicine, tents, diapers, clothing, blankets, water boots, flashlights, etc… All of these purchased items will be hand delivered to local organizations already entrenched in the community making a difference to men, women, children & families in cities most needing help.”
The disaster is happening now and the sooner we can provide support, the better those impacted will be. Anything helps, even as little as $25 can feed a whole family for a week.
You can also help by sharing this page to everyone you know so we can bring together our entire WHET FAMILY in making a difference.
On behalf of the WHET Foundation’s Board of Directors, Staff, Volunteers, Supporters and Beneficiaries, we thank you for coming together and helping us support this cause!
