Yehudit Perel Biton was named after the incredible heroine of the Chanukah story as well as after the holy wife of the Noveminsker Rebbe (a”h). Yehudit was a lofty neshamah filled with spirituality who fought with all her might to remain connected to Hashem. She was one of the bravest people we knew, always displaying spiritual strength despite the odds against her. Indeed, she was a survivor. Although she suffered much throughout her short life she remained steadfast in her belief and did all she could to save herself and her sweet 2-year old daughter, Shirah. Yehudit was aware of the daily battles and struggles her emunah in Hashem was solid and unrelenting. Her trust in Hashem exemplified her true nature and depth. Her ability to see past the turmoil and challenges of life and to see Hashem amid the darkness – is her legacy. Sadly, Yehudit Perel, passed away this past Shabbos (May 8) at the tender age of 20. The strange circumstance surrounding her death is currently being investigated by the police. But she leaves behind her adorable little girl, Shirah - who will never have an opportunity to know her mother up close and personal; to feel her loving embrace or to see the warm smile that always permeated the room.
