The Overview:
Where is Annie Overby? is a snapshot into a family's struggle with trauma, loss, and betrayal. It is also a story about love-the love of older sister Rosalyn, desperate to preserve a home that is falling apart, and younger sister, Annie, who is looking for love in all the wrong places. Told through the eyes of Rosalyn, the film documents her plight with themes like heartbreak, betrayal, and, ultimately, hope and new beginnings.
The Synopsis:
In rural Dixon, Georgia, the church is everything, and so is turning a blind eye to those who have strayed off the straight and narrow. In such a tight-knit town there is no such thing as secrets, and Rosalyn Overby has spent her entire life trying to escape her family’s. With an absent father and a mother recently deceased from cancer, Rosalyn has no choice but to raise her teenage sister as her own. Then she learns that not only has she run away with a much older man, she is also pregnant with his unborn child. Sick with worry, Rosalyn is consumed with trying to find her baby sister. When she receives a fateful phone call in the dead of night, will she finally be able to answer, "Where is Annie Overby?"
The Film:
Where is Annie Overby? is the senior capstone project for Brandon Adams, Tatianna Pangle, and Chase Yarbrough from the University of North Georgia.
