Selfless...sadly a rarity in todays society. With everything going on in the world and everyone's day to day struggles trying to survive...its hard to think about anyone else when one barely has enough time and effort to focus on themselves. Selfless is the one word that came to mind when describing my mom.  

Those close to me know that my mom recently lost everything in the Camp fire in Paradise that is still currently causing heartache and devastation....and I do mean everything.  She has currently what little she could grab in time to get out which is about a weeks worth of clothes. She had a little more...but that brings me to the "Selfless" description for her. 

We all have neighbors. Some good, some bad and some ugly. "God had a mysterious way of pushing ones faith" as my mom so eloquently puts it. It just so happens that my moms "good" neighbors had all evacuated safely and her next door neighbors were standing there with 13 cents and a car with no gas to evade the fires wrath closing in on their complex. Now I know the bad blood between the neighbors but without going into details...my mom emptied out her back seats and drove them to roseville no questions asked. 

My mom is basically the only family I have. I mean I have family, but we're not close. I'm not a religious man but I thank God that she made it out safely. Hearing how the fire was on both sides of her and them making it through the chaos...I can admit...it did make me a little more religious. 

I'm in the process of selling some personal items to get the ball rolling and literally get her life started again. I'm not the kind of man to ask for hand outs..I'm just lost and can't imagine what shes going through. I'm not expecting this to work...if anything... I'd like this be proof to the masses, that there are still decent people in the world. Something we all question daily.
