Meditation Garden in honor of David Moreau
Donation protected
“Where Butter Flies & Dragons Snap” is a meditation garden plan to provide a space of peace and hope for those with grieving hearts. This project was created to honor both David Moreau and his wife, Aggie, who worked daily, side-by-side, in their home garden, often sharing the harvests with family and friends who stopped by for a cup of coffee.
The garden is primarily devoted to the cultivation of wild flowers in the hope of attracting visits from a variety of hummingbirds and butterflies – both little creatures being favorites of Aggie's.
A devoted man of Christ and a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, David passed away at the age of 87 on December 30, 2022. About 12 months prior to his passing, circumstances necessitated that David leave behind his much-loved home and large garden to take care of his bride of 54 years, Aggie Moss Moreau.
Always curious about nature, David became a passionate gardener of flowers, vegetables, and fruits in his T-Mamou, Louisiana home garden.
Often exploring new methods of permaculture, David experimented with ways to create worm towers and rich compost, cultivating produce ranging from figs, satsumas, okra, green beans, onions, tomatoes, squash, muscadine grapes, asparagus, strawberries, peppers, leaf lettuce, potatoes and herbs. His cucumbers were always in high demand! A failed but brave attempt to grow artichokes was tackled with love and perseverance. Nylon stockings, twine and bamboo, were among his favorites for creating trellises and ties to secure new growth along the rows of his colorful, future harvest. The rows of future bounty were flanked by giant sunflowers … just because.
