Help Fund Our Grad Film! - ‘Where Are You Really From?'

What does 'home' truly mean if you've never been there?!
This short documentary offers a unique and fresh perspective on the internal conflicts of first-generation British immigrants who have never visited their ancestral homeland, as they navigate the complex divide between cultural roots and their British Identity, culminating in a journey of self-discovery and belonging.

For many first-generation immigrants, the question of "where are you from?" can be layering and challenging. Imagine growing up in one country, but with heritage from a place you've never seen, or perhaps only briefly visited as a holiday destination, while still feeling like an outsider to a culture that is your own. This documentary aims to give a voice to these individuals as they face questions of cultural connections, personal history, and the search for belonging, questions of cultural connections, personal history, and the search for belonging.

This documentary is being produced by Amaar Zafar, Tiyana Nayee and Skye Leavy, who all share a passion for bringing this story to life, in a dynamic way of storytelling. Our diverse crew come from a variety of backgrounds and share an unwavering confidence in this project.
