The Journey:
One day at home, I probably had an itch or something, and noticed a lump on/in my left lady lump, about the size of a gumball. Doctors had me do an ultrasound and mammogram both confirming a mysterious mass. Next was a consultation with a surgeon. This surgeon said because of my age and edges of the mass it was likely just a cyst and/or calcifications. That gave me enough peace of mind to postpone the biopsy until I could better afford the procedure.

January 2025 I learned of a new law that prohibits medical debt from being reported to credit bureaus. So I said Funk it, Let's go get that official peace of mind!
Thaaaaaat's not what happened lol.
Docs had me to an updated ultrasound and mammogram, which showed the thing grew and now has irregular edges. So it was upgraded from mysterious to suspicious :1
Went forward with the biopsy pretty quickly on 1/22. THAT was interesting. They used some kind of speed-syringe-clip-thing yanking out a few tiny pieces of the mass. Had a cool tiny hole on the side of my boob afterward. Hurt for days lol.
Results from that came back positive for Papillary Ductal carcinoma in SITU, Grade 2. We had a Surgical consult 1/30 which broke down exactly what all that meant: Likely non-invasive, with a good prognosis; radiation might be recommended after lumpectomy, based on findings after looking further at my insides and testing the rest of the mass!

*DEEP SIGH*

So... I'm being treated at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center and Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank. Everyone there has been amazing. That first surgeon is no longer with the company and my new Surgeon is now one of my most favorite people in the world.

Pre-Op medical bills are just north of $1K (after Insurance deductions). Surgery is SOON on 2/18 and we will update with that amount after insurance coverage too.
Post-Op treatment is TBD based on surgery findings... So we're expecting another hefty bill there.
Time missed from work is looking around $2,500 at the moment. Again, we will update with more accurate figures as everything unfolds...

I am so very grateful for any donations and/or for sharing the link. You are amazing❤<333
