My husband, Devin Fitchett, was involved in a devastating, life-threatening motorcycle accident on January 24, 2026—an ordinary day that turned our world upside down in an instant.
The crash left Devin with seven broken ribs, fractured in twelve different places, along with a punctured lung and a recurrent pneumothorax. He fought through unimaginable pain while hospitalized until February 6, when he was finally able to come home to continue recovering. We were grateful to have him back home, believing the worst might finally be behind us.
But just days later, on February 12, during a follow-up appointment, something in my heart told me something still wasn’t right. I asked for a chest X-ray—and that moment likely saved his life. The scan revealed blood pooling in his chest wall and another pneumothorax. Devin had to be rushed back to the hospital, where he was admitted again from February 13 through February 20.
During his first hospitalization, surgeons had already performed a major surgery to stabilize his ribs using plates and screws and placed a chest tube to help his lung heal. During the second hospitalization, Devin had to endure yet another surgery to remove blood that had collected in his lung and chest wall. He required another chest tube along with a pigtail drain to allow his body to heal. These procedures saved his life, but they have also left him facing severe pain and a long, difficult road to recovery.
Today, Devin is finally back home, but healing from injuries like these takes time—time his body desperately needs. Unfortunately, that also means he cannot work right now. The medical bills from multiple hospitalizations, surgeries, and ongoing care are quickly piling up, along with everyday living expenses.
If you know Devin, you know he is one of the strongest, kindest people you could ever meet. Watching him fight through this has been heartbreaking, but we are incredibly grateful that he is still here with us. Right now, we are simply trying to stay afloat while giving him the time and care he needs to heal.
Any support—whether financial, emotional, prayers, or simply sharing this page—means more to our family than words can truly express. Your kindness helps lift a weight off our shoulders during one of the most difficult times of our lives.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our family and helping Devin on his road to recovery. ❤️
