What if you found out a secret business owned all of the children's lemonade stands? Would you be concerned? Call the police? Or work there?

Background:

My name is Jack Costello, writer and director of Magpie’s Lemonade. Usually I am a cinematographer at heart, but looking as this is my junior year at CU Denver, I’m realizing that time is slowly running out and that I might not be able to direct something of my own before joining the cruel cruel world of professional filmmaking.

Magpie’s Lemonade is my chance. I've put many hours into the script, taking notes from as many people as possible trying to make this the best short film I can. I’m very proud of the progress I’ve made and I can't wait to start making this wonderful world come to life.

Story:

Magpie’s Lemonade is about Gerry, a lemonade delivery driver who finally got the promotion of his dreams, only to be tasked with acquiring the new lemonade stand that will make or break his career. While slightly absurdist at heart, I still tried writing a story that is full of heart, where Gerry finds his true purpose in life is helping Kyle make people smile with his homemade lemonade.

Characters:

Gerry: Very ambitious and wants everyone to respect him, he has been in this business for so long he doesn't care about anything other than his job and what it can bring him. But at the end of the script, he realizes he doesn’t care about the corporate junk and just wants to help Kyle make people happy.

Kyle: Strives for success in his lemonade stand and keeping his father's legacy alive. Confident and stands his ground at any cost, no matter who tries to stand in his way.

Magpie: The head of Magpie's Lemonade, he's a ruthless business man who has stomped over everyone to get what he wants.
