My cousin needs our help
7 months ago, I woke up with extreme pain starting in my lower back and shooting all the way down my leg to my foot. It was a bulging disk in my back pushing on my sciatic nerve, the pain was constant and sever. I don't know what caused it, maybe lifting construction materials. I started going to a chiropractor for a couple months and he wasn't able to fix it and the pain was getting worse. I started going to my doctor and getting steroid shots and pills as well as pain medication, It didn't help! I finally started looking for a surgeon, and was referred to a doctor in Austin that had received several awards. I scheduled the surgery and thought that would be the end of it, I was wrong! 6 weeks after surgery I was still in pain along with more pain, upset stomach and head aches. The incision site started swelling so I headed back to the surgeon to find out he had cut my spinal cord lining! He told me to get a hotel and I would have emergency surgery to repair his mistake. I do not have insurance and am self employed. I paid for the first surgery by maxing out two credit cards and emptying my bank account. He didn't charge me his fee to fix his mistake but the hospital, anesthesiologists, etc is sending my bills, over $10,000 plus hotel and another 6 weeks with out working to recover. I think it is healing and am starting to feel better but I'm now $21,000 dollars in debt and haven't been able to work in 4 months. In doing everything to get back to work and I have been taking care of my father who had a few strokes for the past 7 years. It is really hard for me to ask for help and I wouldn't have made it this far without the help of my cousins helping me right after the surgerys! Any assistance that anyone could provide would be extremely appreciated. You would be helping me to be able to keep my home and continue too take care of my father. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and for your support!
