- Everything seemed to fall apart all at once. In the fall of 2022, I hired Samuel Glanton to do repairs to my home. He took about $70,000 of my life savings and a grant from the City of Iowa City. He slowly dismantled my entire home, then slowly started to show up to work less and less. In this time, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. I had tumors in my ovaries, rectum, cervix. I went through a gruelingly round of chemo, radiation (both internal and external). Over the course of five months, Samuel Glanton quit all together and took all of my money. He left my house is shambles. I had no working kitchen, exposed drywall, no electricity, the entire house was a mess. He refused to answer my calls, refused to refund my money. I was trying to raise my autistic seven year old and nine year old in all this mess. Then my cancer came back, metastasized to my lung and lymph nodes. My oncologists suggested a second round of chemo, which I started in the fall of 2023. This round was awful. I had an allergic reaction to the chemo meds and developed neuropathy in my hands and feet, a blood clot in my leg, and I totally lost my ability to work. After switching to just Keytruda, I developed a nerve condition called PMR. I finished this round of chemotherapy and just had another PET scan. This time it showed all of my tumors cleared up, with the exception of the tumor on my iliac nerve. My oncologist say it isn't operable and there isn't anything to do. They don't advise a third round of chemo and just to make the most of the year I have left. I would love to be able to give my two children at home the best year that I can. I cannot work, so I am struggling financially. My ex-husband refuses to help, refuses to pay child support, refuses to pitch in anywhere. I'd love to be able to afford to put my house back together, so my children will have a home to call their own when I do pass on. My 19 year old child can move back in and take care of them. I would also like to purchase a funeral plan for myself, so they won't have to worry about it. Any all monetary donations would be so appreciated. I am just at my end with being able to provide for my kids, my house, anything at all.
