Hello, I’d like you to meet my best friend, Silky. We will be unfolding her story here, and you’ll be able to get to know what an amazing human she is, but at the moment we’re all still processing this devastating news that started with a simple visit to the dentist for a toothache after Thanksgiving just last year (2022).

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma. It’s a rare cancer of the salivary gland. Silky received the diagnosis January 6, 2023. Stage 3/4, it involves the bone and she will need surgery to remove it, and extensive reconstructive surgery; she was told that January 11, 2023. Oh and surgery will be next month.

And now why we’re here. Insurance will cover some costs, but as I’m sure you know, it won’t cover all. From lost wages to the cost of medical care the Russell’s are looking at expenses well into the 100k’s.
