Changing the lives of our teens is the goal of Wheels Up Youth Center. Encouraging their passions and interests, providing mentorship and support during the difficult times and designing a PLACE FOR TEENS in our community CAN change the direction of their lives. We have started a movement to focus on stopping addiction and behavior issues BEFORE a teen's life begins to spiral downhill: before addiction takes hold, before anger issues impact their futures, before they make poor decisions that could put their entire lives in jeopardy. But we need the help of the COMMUNITY! Let's make a difference and set the example in Brownsburg that can be followed in other communities! By donating to support us, YOU could save the life of a teen!
We now have nearly 30 teens who are actively committed to bringing a youth center to Brownsburg, Indiana to put our community on the map with a new kind of youth center specializing in teens' interests and needs.
Wheels Up was established in Feb 2014 and is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation. Donating today will help us open a facility for teens that will not only be a fun place to spend their free time but also to get help if they need it. We will coordinate the missions of many youth service groups on our area to have their specialties available under one roof. Your gift of $10, $20, $50 or whatever you can give could save the life of a teen. It's that simple.
Every situation needs a hero. The teens in our community need many heroes. More are coming forward every day. Now you can be part of that amazing group of supporters. Whether it is $5 or $5000-every dollar counts. This is for the future of our teens, but it is also for YOUR future.
Teens are the most powerful resource we have to change the world for the better, to extinguish hate and discrimination. But to do those things, they need to develop the life coping skills they need to move successfully into adulthood. Time is running out for some of our kids and if you watch the news, it seems it is running out for all of us. We need to act NOW.

When you read stories about the successes of teens whose lives have been changed by their years at the youth center, you will know it would not have happened without YOU.
Opening a youth center in June of 2015 will give teens a safe place to go with adults who are there to listen. The issues they face-depression, anxiety, stress, addiction, self-harm, abuse- can be brought into the light and dealt with. Our goal is to intervene in the lives of teens BEFORE they go down a bad road that will impact the rest of their lives.
Having adults in their lives to listen, relate their own life experience and offer the encouragement teens need could be the difference between life and death for our kids. But we need a place to do it.
Parents often feel helpless, school resources are stretched to the limit, the police officers brace themselves for the next teen they have to arrest, or find dead. In spite of the greatness of our community, teens are still dying for your help.
With a facility open EVERY DAY, teens can find the relief they need, the adults who are there to listen, encourage and reassure them that they CAN and WILL succeed in life. We can help them pave their own way, empower them to succeed.
Donating TODAY will not only change the lives of our teens but YOUR life as well. No matter who you are, those 'bratty' teens who play music too loud, dart out on front of your car on a skateboard or bike and make a nuisance of themselves in restaurants are the future of our community!! If THAT isnt enough to motivate you to hit the donate button right now, think about the last time you saw a teenager and shook your head in disgust. THAT KID is going to be showing up to be hired by your company. Or you will need their money as a customer for your business. Or they will be moving in next door. Or they will be in jail and your tax money will begin to support them on the road leading no where. Or you will read about another star student's overdose or suicide, another car accident that took more young lives. Sure, they make choices. They know what they are doing is wrong at times. But YOU know you did some of those things too. So did I. We all had challenges and maybe we overcame that. Life was different when we were younger, right? Kids didnt act like this, right? Its social media and permissive parents or a hole in the ozone layer that messed up their brains. Does it really matter why? Or is it more important right now, TODAY, to find a solution? To TRY something different? We can STOP the problem before it starts.
I left my management career in May of 2014 to bring this youth center to life. I did this because I could no longer pretend I didnt know how much our teens are suffering regardless of social or economic status. Now I am asking for your help to continue to grow this youth center so our teens can have that place I needed as a teen, the place many of us needed.
Our future plans for the next few years are to build a youth facility focused exclusively on teen issues with an indoor and outdoor bike and skatepark for the kids who chose BMX or skateboarding as their sport. This will get the riders off the street and give them a safe place to enjoy their sport, practice, get training and have competitions year-round. This will put Hendricks County on the map with a unique youth recreational facility that does not exist anywhere.
So far we have participated in community service events for our partnering organizations -Sheltering Wings domestic violence shelter, Family Promise of Hendricks County, Carel Education Foundation, Get Real Indy and The Well Community Center with more to come. Our teens have seen the impact they can have on the lives of others. They want to be part of the community too, and not be seen as a nuisance.
