Melissa Stanton, 39, of Newport, RI is a 14 - year kidney dialysis patient with no current prospects for a transplant.
A single mother of two grown daughters, she lives on a fixed income. For transportation, she must rely on buses, friends and an occasional taxi.
She has not owned a car since a 2009 accident wiped out her vehicle. The accident severely damaged one of her ankles, and today she is unable to walk long distances without sharp pain.
Melissa's goal is to buy a car in order to become more self reliant. A safe and serviceable car would greatly improve her quality of life, letting her drive to stores, supermarkets and medical appointments.
Our goal is to buy her a car, as well as pay for registration, taxes and insurance, plus a AAA membership.
All donations would be appreciated. A car would be a life-changer.
