Wheels for Wheels ~ Disability Van
Donation protected
UPDATE: We found a great 2018 van and are getting the proper accommodations completed now. Still need some support to help reach our goal. You can still contribute either on here or to me personally and it will go toward the balance due. He's financing $20k now. Thank you to all who gave!!!
What has 6 wheels, goes fast, and ends with a thud?!?
Our friend, Greg Neumann, in his 2002 wheelchair accessible van. Driving with hand controls while not having use of his legs is just one everyday activity that makes Greg's life difficult. He never complains though!
Greg works hard everyday just to live his life. Tasks that a lot of us take for granted, present significant challenges to Greg. As he ages (he's 63) he is experiencing more health struggles and everyday challenges are becoming more difficult.
Greg's van is having more and more mechanical issues. An early 2000 model year presents a challenge to find parts for and to keep operational.
A few weeks ago when his brakes went completely out he had no way to stop the vehicle. Thank God he was driving in Edwardsville at a low rate of speed. He was able to stop by running up onto a curb. Fortunately there was minimal damage and no one was injured. If Greg were driving on the highway at a higher rate of speed, the results could have been devastating!
Greg is always smiling and it is easy to forget he is a paraplegic. He has worked hard his whole life and never asks for help from anyone. Now his friends and family are (secretly - dont tell him!) asking for him.
Greg is on disability, works as his health allows, and takes care of his aging mother. All who know him agree he is a great and hardworking guy!
As Greg gets older, his family and friends are creating this fundraiser as a surprise to try to make life a little easier for him.
This account will be used to get Greg a vehicle that is safe and meets his needs. Just the accessibility features alone cost $20k, something we would have no knowledge of but he cannot drive without. Please consider helping this cause with any amount you can. We hope to help Greg have the best birthday surprise ever (October 15th) with the help of so many caring people like you!
Thank you in advance for your contribution of any amount. Together we can make a difference!
