November is Menkes Awareness Month.

Menkes is a rare disease caused by a defective gene named ATPTA1 that regulates the metabolism of copper in the body. Menkes disease causes steely kinky hair, robs children of their muscle strength and cognitive abilities, causes seizures, stunted growth and most Menkes children don't live past toddlerhood.

Reyes is our Menkes Warrior who has conquered the typical statistics and turns 11 in December! Monies raised will go towards purchasing a Mobility Van with a wheelchair lift to give Reyes the freedom to use his wheelchair outside of school, explore the world, and live life to his biggest, wildest dream! Go Reyes Go!
