Meet Patches, our three-legged hero.

Patches’ life hasn’t been easy. He was rescued from an animal cruelty case, and when we first brought him home, he hardly had any fur—so we called him Patches. On top of that, vets told us a massive lump on his side was “nothing.” It turned out to be soft tissue sarcoma. Last year, he underwent amputation surgery—and by the very next day, he was determined to walk around the block. That’s just who he is: full of spirit and stubborn joy.

Now, as he gets older, the summer heat and the strain on his single back leg make walks harder. Patches still yearns to keep up with the neighborhood dogs, but his body leans back, and you can see the fatigue setting in. What he needs is a specialized dog wheelchair to give him support on his outdoor walks—so he can keep doing what he loves most: being part of the pack. We’ll use it only for walks outside, to give him the freedom and comfort he deserves in his golden years.

Patches is the sweetest soul—you can’t walk down our street without someone calling out to him. Everyone who meets him falls in love with his resilience and gentle heart. All we want is to make the years he has left as joyful and pain-free as possible.
