February 2020 was life changing for Lynne who is a 48 year old mother of 8 children. Lynne woke with excruciating pain in her. back which was so debilitating that she was taken to the local hospital emergency department and admitted. She was given a CT scan and the transferred to Box hill hospital for a MRI. When she came out of the MRI she was paralysed from the neck down. She was then rushed to ST Vincent’s hospital in the city and emergency surgery was done on her cervical and lumbar spine to drain an epidural abscess. Lynne has been diagnosed as an incomplete quadriplegic.
She was in Caulfield rehabilitation and then was supported to get home to be with her children again. She requires care all day, input from physio, OT, Nursing, is wheel chair bound and is currently learning to maintain balance to be able to sit.
Lynne is focused, positive and determined to rehabilitate. She is single-mindedly aimed at beating this condition, and to defy the doctors prognosis and walk again. Her aim is to be best mother she can for her children.
If Lynne can access a vehicle that is capable of transporting her, her wheelchair and her children she will more fully be able to participate in their day to day life, and achieve simple things like seeing them off to school in the morning. Also it would enable her to
optimise her rehabilitation by being able to get to different services.
All raised funds will be used for a vehicle to allow Lynne to get around and rehabilitate. I especially wanted to reach out to the
cockatoo and surrounding community who always dig deep in times of need.
Funds will be transferred to a joint account for Lyn to use when she finds the perfect vehicle to meet her needs. Thank you all for the funds so far raised its amazing
