Hi, my name is Adam and I want to help a good friend. I’ve been working with him at Best Buy for over a year now and I couldn’t ask for a better person to be with everyday.
His name is Eythan Krein and he has been such an inspiration to me that I wanted to help him get a new wheelchair. A recent change in his life has left him independent, so daily tasks can be extremely difficult. Getting him a new ride will help with that.
Here’s some history on Eythan:
Eythan was born with cerebral palsy with spastic diaplegia, a physical challenge that attacks the legs and arms, making them stiff and contracted. Generally, the legs are affected more than the arms. There is no cure, nor does the disease progress.
Eythan is confined to a wheelchair. Now, at 48 years old, he has never walked and never will. While science has yet to find a means of improving Eythan’s situation, technology has. Carbon-fiber wheelchairs have been a godsend for those who are dependent on wheelchairs. Eythan would benefit greatly from one of these eight pound wonders to replace the aging, 35 pound chair he currently has.
On top of that, four months ago, Eythan’s wife, of 11 years, succumbed to cancer. That has left Eythan with little or no assistance, as well as only one income.
With the approval from physical therapists and custom fittings required, the total cost of a carbon-fiber wheelchair is about $7000. Given Eythan’s humble and inspirational approach to a lifetime of challenges, it’s a relatively small request.
He’s a good man. He never complains, never wears his daily challenges on his sleeve. He simply goes about his day, being an exemplary worker. His example compels me to be a better person.
Please give what you can. You can make a difference today.
