Wheels for Asher
Donation protected
My friend Asher needs a car.
I want to tell you a little about Asher. We met in the SCA, an organization we had both been in from childhood, but never been acquainted. Their path and mine were similar - they are also nonbinary like me, and we've had a lot of the same struggles. Unlike me, they had less support. They came out this year and were ostracized by the lion's share of their family, losing their support network. I'm asking my support network to be theirs.
Those struggles have gone from "treading water" to "drowning" because their car died today.
Asher is a good friend and a fantastic human being overflowing with compassion and a desire to do good. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Asher has been doing hands-on work with disabled adults that is vital and essential. They have already had the virus, and are still in the long process of recovery, and they can't catch a break.
It is vital that they have transportation for their work and to take care of clients who depend on them for activities of daily living.
The car that they wish to get is a Prius. That will cost around 5k, and they've already saved around 1k. They wanted to get a car with a very low fuel cost because their work requires constant driving of clients. They wanted the Prius for it's green energy standards and the safety features. The car they bought in November is just not going to make it any longer with a busted axle.
If we're unable to raise $4000, then whatever we can raise can go to a car to get them through for the time being. But I think that we can do it.
If you're unable to donate, please share? These times are tough, but if you can put the fundraiser in front of other people, that's just as important.
