As many of you know, Ian was diagnosed with CNS lymphoma in early 2002. Despite all predictions and odds he has survived and persevered- much to our delight. He has been able to continue to be an amazing father and husband. Ian had undergone high dose chemo in 2002, 2004 and 2010 for his initial diagnose and subsequent recurrences. He was able to continue to work up until 2010. To this day he wishes he was able to return to working as a nurse practitioner to support his family. Ian’s disease was always described as a terminal cancer, however, he was recently told by his oncologist that he considers him cured. CURED! Pretty unbelievable for someone always waiting for the other shoe to drop!
Unfortunately, despite his stubbornness and tenacity, due to damage from the cancer, chemo and the late term effects of brain radiation therapy Ian’s ability to walk, his balance and endurance continues to decline. He is able to get around at home and walk quite short distances In the community. He is no longer able to do many things that he once enjoyed, like getting outside and hiking trails with his wife, going to the city for shows or even simple things like taking his daughters to the mall to shop. After many years of refusing to even think of using a wheel chair, he now realizes that it is the only way he can continue to enjoy many activities outside of the home.
Our goal is to raise money to purchase a wheel chair that he can not only self-propel himself on hard surfaces but one he can change out the wheels on to get into the woods again.
We would appreciate your consideration of donating to Ian’s wheelchair fund - as he now has a new lease on life given his new prognosis!
Thank you for reading and for your support.
